October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! This month is an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. The goal is to raise awareness and funds to help support life-saving research and life-changing support. Between donating to a charity, volunteering, and wearing pink, there are many low-cost and free ways to show your support in the awareness for breast cancer. Below are a few ways that you can be in support this month.

  • Participate. You can participate in the Susan G Komen walk for breast cancer. The Komen Foundation hosts community races to raise money to fund community- based health programs, research, and advocacy programs.

  • Volunteer. You can volunteer at local and national volunteer centers. These volunteer centers help with events that raise money for breast cancer research.

  • Wear Pink. Wearing a pink ribbon, pink clothes, or pink accessories is an easy way to show your support for those who are fighting breast cancer.

  • Educate. You can help spread awareness of breast cancer by informing your friends on how to self-examine for any abnormalities and telling your female friends and family to get mammograms. Many clinics offer free mammograms in October.
