When planning for a job interview, it can be overwhelming trying to find the perfect outfit that fits the company’s vision. You always want to make a great first impression, but the outfit you choose should depend on the company’s dress code that you’re interviewing for. You want to send your interviewer a message that you understand the role of the job you’re applying for. And that starts with what you’re wearing. I’m going to list a few tips on how to dress for your interview, depending on the type of dress code!Â
Â
Generally, if the company you’re applying for calls for business attire, you will want to wear a suit. If a suit isn’t accessible to you, strive for slacks and a nice button-down shirt. You can find cost friendly items at Walmart, TJ Maxx, and Old Navy.Â
If you have a job interview in a more informal work environment, you might wear a business casual outfit. The work environment is usually more casual and that suit, but more formal than a t-shirt and jeans. Go for a look that includes slacks and a sweater, or a casual dress with a sweater.Â
It’s important to dress professional no matter the company’s environment, and you can still dress professionally even if the company calls for a casual dress code. While still maintaining that great first impression, you can strive to wear something like dark wash jeans and a sweater, or a casual dress with a jean jacket.Â
