Best of SF Standup Comedy

The Purple Onion at Kells, San Francisco

One of the longest running independent comedy shows in America featuring a revolving showcase of SF's best comics every Friday at Kells, home to San Francisco's legendary Purple Onion in the heart of beautiful North Beach. We're easy to get to and an amazing starting point for an unforgettable Friday night in SF.



About the show

Each show features five to six comedians, ranging from SF's best up and coming acts to the occasional drop-in national headliner.


Come early and enjoy some great food and amazing craft drinks at Kells full bar and restaurant. At 8pm, grab your drink and head downstairs for the show!

The show will end by 9:30pm.


We encourage everyone to stick around after the show and party with us at Kells!

The show is for mature audience members of 18+ only unless accompanied by parent.

Is there a drink minimum?

No, there is no drink minimum.

What if I'm late?

Not a problem, just head downstairs whenever you're ready to laugh.

Is there parking available?

There is free parking on the street but it can be tough to find a spot, there are many public parking garages close by. See your options on Parkopedia.

If the event is sold out, will you have tickets at the door?

We often sell out, so please buy your tickets in advance. If the event is sold out online, we will not have any extra tickets to sell at the door. In that case, please get tickets to the next show!

If I can't make it to the show anymore, will the fees be refunded?

Sure!

THE SHOW

The Purple Onion is a legendary comedy club in San Francisco that had its heyday in the 1950s and 60s and helped launch the careers of Phyllis Diller, The Smothers Brothers, Lenny Bruce, Woody Allen, and Richard Pryor. Now, a new generation of comedic talent is set to take the stage! From the producers of one of the longest running independent shows in America, comes this comedy tour de force with some of the hottest up and coming acts in the Bay Area!


THE VENUE

Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub in San Francisco offers a warm atmosphere inside an original Barbary Coast building. Oak flooring, some private wood booths and central tables with white table cloths combine to create an extraordinary dining atmosphere. An interesting and unexpected menu with creative flair offers classic Irish and American favorites as well as innovative dishes.


THE FINE PRINT

Cameras and video/audio recording devices are not permitted. All non-headliner shows' lineups are subject to change.


 

Roller Rink

The Church of Eight Wheels, San Francisco

Fridays are always a great time to go roller skating. This is a session where kids and families skate along with anyone that's in the mode to get their skate groove on early!!! Please skate safely. All participants must please follow the direction of the rink personnel.


Skate Rental are available for $5.00, but not included with the purchase of your ticket.


NO REFUNDS!!! Attendees are NOT allowed to transfer their registration between this event and another event. Be sure you are selecting the proper date and time you want to skate.


To speed up the process at the door please have your scan codes ready to scan. Ticket scan codes can be found at the bottom of your confirmation email with tickets attached. Thank you everyone for being patient and understanding while we try to adapt to our new system.

Join us for a free family-friendly event at Robin Williams Meadow in Golden Gate Park on Saturday, March 23rd at 10am-1pm. Bring a friend and a picnic blanket, and get ready for some fun that the whole family can enjoy!

The picnic area at Robin Williams Meadow is located just off Bowling Green Drive, between MLK and Middle Drives. The tables are above the parking lot near the lawn bowling greens and uphill from the carousel.

 

Cupcakes and Cocktails

West Oakland Youth Center, Oakland

HellaBakedwithAyePe presents Cupcakes and Cocktails. Join us in this fun social event as we eat, drink, decorate cupcakes, and have fun. Get tips on how to decorate cupcakes by AyePe himself. Indulge in some amazing food, sip on cocktails, and take home a pack of cupcakes that you decorate yourself! There will be a contest for the best decorated cupcake, opportunities to buy raffle tickets to win cupcakes and one large raffle prize of an entire sweet table for your next event.


While kids are not recommend I understand that sometimes a baby sitter is just not available. So, if you need to bring kids and want them to participate the price will be $25 at the door.

-Do I need an ID?

Yes. There will be alchol at this event.

-What should I bring to the event?

Nothing! All the supplies you need will be readily available to you. So just bring cash to buy raffle tickets and more drinks.

-Will I need cash at this event?

Yes, there will be raffle tickets to purchase so you can win some amazing prizes as well as some delicious treats! The bar will also be cash only.

Join us for an enchanting afternoon hosted by Book Society, featuring the extraordinary stories within local author and editor Johanna McCloy's inspiring book, Dare to be Fabulous, a collection of empowering narratives from real women sharing a chapter of their fabulous life journey.


Event Highlights

Storytelling: Immerse yourself in the inspiring tales from Dare to be Fabulous as Johanna McCloy guides us on a journey through the remarkable experiences of incredible women.

Wine Tasting: Sip and savor a special curated selection of wines by Broc Cellars, along with non-alcoholic beverages and light nibbles.

Conversation: Engage in a lively conversation with Johanna and fellow attendees, sharing thoughts, insights, and personal experiences inspired by the stories within the book.

Connection: Meet other fabulous women in the community, forging new friendships and supporting each other's journeys.


Featured Speakers

Johanna McCloy is a writer, editor, and actor. She is the editor of Dare to be Fabulous as well as her mother's memoir, Six Car Lengths Behind an Elephant by Lillian McCloy.

Moina Shaiq contributed the story "Meet a Muslim" to Dare to be Fabulous. She is the mother of four children and a grandmother of six. She is also a community activist, devoting herself to building bridges of understanding.

Ticket price includes wine tasting, nibbles and a surprise! Non-alcoholic beverage options will also be available.

About the Venue

Broc Cellars is a Berkeley-based natural winery that makes refreshing and approachable wines for everyday drinking. Owner and winemaker Chris Brockway started from a single barrel in 2002 to now producing over 20 different wine releases a year.

The tasting room, located in the Gilman District "winery block" in Berkeley, offers a lovely garden patio setting for our gathering. Ample free street parking is available.


About Book Society

Book Society is a bookstore & wine lounge coming soon to Berkeley, CA. Co-founders Laura Guzman and Rita Gordon envision a unique escape where visitors can explore and discover.

We look forward to introducing you our "society" and sharing a little taste of what's to come when we open our doors, anticipated Fall 2024.

Cheaper Than Therapy offers a healthy dose of live stand-up comedy every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, year-round. Located in San Francisco's historic Shelton Theater in the heart of Union Square, Cheaper Than Therapy is convenient to get to, whether you live in the Bay Area or are just visiting.

About the show


Each show features five to six hand-picked, experienced comedians and an occasional guest drop-in.


Please arrive at the theater by 7:45pm to check in with the box office. The bar opens at 7pm, and the show starts at 8pm. Last seating is at 8:20pm.


The theater has a full bar with no drink minimum. Come early for craft drinks and great seats!

This is a live show, and we want everyone to have a great time. As a courtesy to the performers and audience, we will not seat those who arrive after 8:20pm. If you are unable to make it by this time, please let us know. We would be happy to transfer your tickets to a future date.

Unfortunately, Eventbrite does not refund any fees, so only the base ticket price is refunded. However, we're happy to transfer your tickets to a future show of your choice instead. Just email us at info@cttcomedy.com let us know that you can no longer make it and want to transfer your tickets. Once you've decided on a date that works better for you, email us again at least 48 hours in advance of the show, and we'll confirm your tickets.
