Who ARE You (Legally Speaking)?

While The Job Shop is committed to getting to know YOU, the unique individual that you are, when you register with us there is also some legal identity information we're going to need to make sure you get paid on time.

Your Social Security Number:

This number is your unique identifier for Federal and State taxing agencies. It is very important that all your Job Shop timecards have the last four digits of your social security number on the form below your Legal name. By putting your correct and legible social security number on your timecard, W-4, DE-4 forms you are following the steps to guarantee that you get credit for the payroll taxes that are deducted from your JOB SHOP paycheck.

Your Legal Name:

My legal first name is Tamara. I go by Tammy to my friends, work colleagues, family, and neighbors but when I complete any important documents, I use my Legal name because it is unique just like my social security number. I want to be sure I am identified properly.

If you were to have a tax or legal issue it makes it difficult for authorities to match your name and your social security number together if you use either a nickname, a short version of your name, or even a cute name that represents a more formal name. Here are a few examples:

Elizabeth – Liz, Beth, Liza

Maria – Mary, Molly, Ria

Margaret – Meg, Maggie, Marge

Joseph – Joe, Jay, John

Michael – Mike, Mick, Micca

Timothy – Tim, Tio, Timbo

When you fill out your name on your Job Shop timecard and important documents and your W-4 and DE-4 use the Legal Name associated with your social security number. Using the one name shown on your Social Security Card issued by the Federal Government ensures that we and they know who you are. In doing so the taxing authorities will give you credit for the taxes you pay in. Hopefully, you will get a tax refund, and if you do, they will know exactly who to send it to!

We See You:

The Job Shop makes every effort to get to know you as a person and the unique individual you are! We want to know all your likes, dislikes, your employment desires, and your skill set to match you with the perfect job opportunity. Please keep in mind, however, it is important to remember that our payroll service only knows you by your Legal Name and Social Security number and since they can’t see you and they want to be as accurate as possible stick to the basics. REAL NAME – REAL FAME!
