Botanicals and Brews


Conservatory of Flowers, San Francisco

Discover the unique tropical plant collection of the Conservatory through the lens of craft brews. Some of the Bay Area’s finest craft brew masters will set up shop on the third Friday of the month in our Victorian greenhouse, telling the tall tales of botanical brewing and proffering their delicious elixirs.

Ticket Levels:

This is a 21+ event, all attendees must bring government issued I.D.’s

General Admission – $27 – General admission ticket holders receive a complimentary craft brew of their choice and enjoy access to the Conservatory from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm as well as the Beer Garden on the Palm Terrace from 6:30 pm to 11:30 pm.

Master Brewer – $55 – Slip away with an exclusive tasting flight, featuring our acclaimed host breweries. Experience a guided tasting by expert craft beer makers who will explore the varieties and flavors of four different brew samples.

Master Brewer Includes:

  1. One flight of 4 beers, handpicked by our host breweries

  2. One souvenir beer flight glass

  3. A $10 food credit that can be redeemed at beer garden food trucks

Creatures of Habit: Coffee Throwdown

SPRO Coffee Lab and SPARK Social SF are brewing up something special! On September 22nd, get your coffee fix and then some with a first-of-its-kind barista competition and specialty coffeefest.

Immerse yourself in all things coffee and take a front-row seat into the barista competitive scene driving the Bay Area coffee craze! Baristas will face off using special techniques and dish out their coffee knowledge as they show off in a single elimination style competition in three categories. Coffee lovers assemble to experience each pour, witness every unique creation, and feel the pressure alongside the baristas as they rise to the challenge and grind against the time. Ready, set, throwdown!

BARISTA THROWDOWN

Creatures of Habit goes beyond everyday latte art to measure and showcase the skills of baristas in three categories:

  1. Spro Down – Pull the perfect shot of espresso, dialing in the grind, tamp, temp, and more, starting from an unmarked bag of mystery beans (winner takes $400 + barista swag)

  2. Signature Coffee Cocktail – Turn classic and unconventional ingredients into an irresistible experimental coffee cocktail. The catch: all ingredients are kept secret and baristas have to use every one! (winner takes $300 + barista swag)

  3. Latte Art – Coffee is your canvas, masterfully pour steamed milk to create an eye-catching, artistic, design into a 4.25 oz gibby glass (winner takes $200 + barista swag)

Baristas who fails to measure up in terms of taste, presentation, and creativity will be eliminated.

COFFEE AFICIONADOS

The first 200 coffee aficionado attendees to arrive will receive a free, specialty, coffee swag bag! Plus, every guest is automatically entered for the chance to win special giveaways including (but not limited to) a Creatures of Habit home pour over kit, Coffee Safari Kit or Nocturnal Animals Bar Essentials Mixology Kit! Espresso your support as baristas conquer their throwdown (and caffeine) jitters and watch them battle it out for best in the Bay! Then indulge in coffee-inspired eats and sweets from local, gourmet food trucks and pop up vendors.

Jack London Square Wine Walk

Jack London Square will host its first-ever Wine Walk on the Waterfront, on Saturday, September 22 from 4–8 p.m. Located at the heart of the Urban Wine Trail, the event will feature tastings Northern California wineries. Participants will be given a passport that provides specially-priced menu items and exclusive offers at participating Jack London Square restaurants and retail stores. There will also be live entertainment throughout the evening, including a performance on the Luminescent Grand, the world’s first synesthesia piano which will light up the Broadway Stage.

General admission tickets are $30 and include unlimited tastings and a souvenir glass. Premium admission tickets are $50 and include unlimited tastings, local restaurant tastings, and a souvenir glass. (limited quantities) All guests must be 21+ with valid ID to attend. Tickets are available now online and the day of the event at the ticket booth at the foot of Broadway St.

San Francisco’s favorite family picnic is back for 2018. Presidio Picnic brings together the best of the Bay Area food scene with the beauty of this national park site and views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Held on the seven acre Main Parade Ground lawn, this weekly community event features food and drink from more than 25 local vendors, food trucks & pop-ups.

But it’s not just about the grub; visitors can enjoy an ever-changing array of free activities including yoga classes, lawn games, a Presidio photo booth, free kids bike-riding lessons from the Presidio YMCA, and nature-based arts and crafts for kids in the Presidio Adventure Zone tent.

New for 2018 is a series of monthly cultural performances.

  2. April 29: SF Awakkoren Dance Group performs Awa Odori, one of the most well-known Japanese traditional dances with 400 years of history

  4. June 24: Alafia Dance Ensemble demonstrate the beauty of African Haitian dance

  1. Senor Sisig: A mashup of the best that Filipino food and Mexican taquerias have to offer, serving sisig-style (24-hour marinated pork shoulder) tacos, burritos and fries

  2. Hot Bird: Oakland-based Nashville-style fried chicken and first-timer at Presidio Picnic

  3. Little Green Cyclo: Vietnamese street food hits like garlic noodles and banh mi

  4. Del Popolo: Neapolitan-inspired pizza from a wood-fired oven featuring local, artisanal ingredients

  5. Slightly Skewed: Asian-style skewers and street foods influenced by the ingredients and flavors of Central and Southeast Asia

  9. El Pipila: Authentic Guanajat cuisine launched through San Francisco’s culinary incubator for low income entrepreneurs, La Cocina and appearing at Presidio Picnic as a Mexican fruit stand

  10. Cielito Lindo: Mexican Street Kitchen: Mexican street food favorites like tacos and tortas topped with roasted steak ranchero, beef barbacoa, chicken mole and veggie estofado

  11. Spork and Stix: Thai and Korean fusion purveyors serving inventice rice boxes, noodle bowls and sliders
