A Night For City Hope

A Night for City Hope brings together 12 local artists who will give voice to the experiences of our neighbors in the Tenderloin and of individuals touched through our work at City Hope. Each story will come to life in a different way, through film, audio, photography, animation, music, poetry and spoken-word.
Join us for a captivating and moving experience that demonstrates both the beauty of the Tenderloin and the purpose of City Hope. We are confident that you will walk away moved and inspired by these incredible stories.

San Francisco’s favorite family picnic is back for 2019. Presidio Picnic brings together the best of the Bay Area food scene with the beauty of this national park site and views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Held on the seven acre Main Parade Ground lawn, this weekly community event features food and drink from more than 30+ international mobile food creators representing the best of San Francisco’s multicultural food scene curated by Off the Grid.
But it’s not just about the grub; visitors can enjoy an ever-changing array of free activities including yoga classes, lawn games, a Presidio photo booth, free kids bike-riding lessons from the Presidio YMCA, and nature-based arts and crafts for kids in the Presidio Adventure Zone tent.
Grab a blanket and head to your national park for Presidio Picnic. This great family event takes place on the Presidio’s beautiful Main Parade Ground, a seven-acre lawn with views of the park, the city, and the San Francisco Bay.

Every year Friends of the San Francisco Public Library fills up the Festival Pavilion Pier at Fort Mason for the Big Book Sale, an iconic San Francisco tradition.
This family-friendly event features over 500,000 books, CDs, DVDs and vinyl. Children’s books, board books, music books, history books, nonfiction books, art books, and a huge collection of vinyl. Everything is just $2-$4. There’s also a rare and collectible book section that is expertly curated if you’re looking for something more specific.
On the last day, the 22nd, all books will be just $1. Don’t fret about book selection. All sections will be restocked daily with new and exciting finds; there will be no shortage of great titles.
Sunday is $1 book day – everything left over on Sunday is just a buck.
Volunteer: Want free books? Want to lend a hand?
Hundreds of volunteers are needed in the fall to help make the largest used book sale on the west coast a huge success.
Volunteers will help set up, pack up, monitor and stock tables, sign-in and welcome other volunteers, help at the information table, cashier, and other tasks.
Each volunteer receives $5 in Free books for volunteering.
