One Found Sound, the San Francisco-based conductorless chamber orchestra, announces a special digital performance of Frederic Rzewski’s “Coming Together” on Friday, May 29, 2020, at 5:30 pm PDT on Facebook Live and YouTube.

The democratic, conductorless orchestra continues to move into the virtual performance arena with their collaborative interpretation of Rzewski’s 1971 minimalist work. “Coming Together” includes text written by an inmate involved with the Attica Correctional Facility riots, and explores themes of isolation, the passage of time, and togetherness.

This special, orchestral project will feature the musicians of One Found Sound and the work of videographer Hanna Moradi. Audiences are invited to tune in to One Found Sound’s Facebook live stream to live-chat with the musicians and other listeners during the event or to watch the event on our YouTube channel.

The event is free of charge. For details and event links, please visit onefoundsound.org.

MORE INFO:

Hi everyone, since mid-March, we've been closed to the public. As the shelter-in-place continues, we are trying to figure out how to serve you under this "new" normal. Full disclosure, we're still figuring it out.

This weekend, we are testing out a to-go menu/experience. Within our 60 ft x 30 ft backyard space, we've arranged a 6-foot distanced line, in a way where the line can be an experience in itself. While you wait for your order, you walk past a gallery of work by a local SF artist and can solo-sway to tunes blasting from our outdoor speakers. We've adjusted our ordering process, so you can be served quickly. We are launching this as a one-time test weekend event for now. If you all show up for it, we'll do it again... maybe even, on the regular. If so, we would partner with a different SF vendor and artist each time to help support those businesses and provide you with new offerings each weekend while you wait. If it's a bust, this might be the only one for a while. See you Saturday.

Virtual Forest Therapy Walk

Zoom Link Provided Upon Registration

2 PM, All Ages

Free (Donations Accepted)

As we continue social distancing and shelter in place, the healing powers of connection, community, and our natural world are more important than ever. So I’m joining my cohorts from around the world to bring you a virtual Forest Therapy walk. We’ll take advantage of whatever sources of nature you have available.

RSVP for Zoom Link

WHERE: If you can safely get to a natural area and have reception, you may join from there. For this journey into nature, you can also join from your yard or your balcony or even inside your home either looking out on the natural world or even simply looking at a photo or painting of a favorite nature.

WHEN: Sundays May 10 – 31, 2020 @ 2pm – 3:30pm PDT (Pacific Daylight Time)

WHAT: Borrowing from the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku or Forest Bathing, we’ll come together over zoom (link provided upon registration) for a series of invitations to engage our senses both real and imaginal in exploring the natural world. There will be an opportunity to share via voice or chat on what you are noticing as we deepen the experience through a shared connection. These invitations will be equally suitable whether you are in the woods, following an ant on your sidewalk or looking at a picture of the beach and everything in between.

If you have the resources, donations are welcome in any amount with a suggested $5-$20 range. I know times are hard for some of us. I want this walk available to everyone regardless of income so please don’t let lack of funds stop you, accept a free ticket if you need it.
