“Westward” All-Female Photo Exhibit

The San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries (SFAC Galleries) is excited to present Westward, an exhibition that features Ten female photographers documenting and depicting the West from May 11, 2018 – May 10, 2019.
Curated by independent curator Ann Jastrab, Westward presents an opportunity to break away from patriarchal representations of the West and its historical association with Manifest Destiny, and offers an alternative vision of this region of the United States.
The exhibition features work by Christa Blackwood, Mercedes Dorame, Ingeborg Gerdes, Tomiko Jones, Kathya Maria Landeros, Jennifer Little, Kari Orvik, Mimi Plumb, Greta Pratt, and Donna J. Wan.
Exhibition is open to the public from 8 am – 8 pm.

Jack London Art and Wine Festival

Located at the heart of the Urban Wine Trail, Jack London Square will be filled with more than 20 Northern California wineries offering tastings, as well as live music, vendors, artists and more. Tickets are $40. All guests must be 21+ with valid ID to attend.
A portion of the tasting ticket proceeds will benefit The Oakland Lions Club. LIONS, Loving Individuals Offering Needed Services, have been helping and supporting those less fortunate and needy, for over 100 years. The Oakland Montclair Lions Club continues to proudly serve the Oakland community today.

Presidio Picnic: Easter Sunday

San Francisco’s favorite family picnic is back for 2019. Presidio Picnic brings together the best of the Bay Area food scene with the beauty of this national park site and views of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Held on the seven acre Main Parade Ground lawn, this weekly community event features food and drink from more than 30+ international mobile food creators representing the best of San Francisco’s multicultural food scene curated by Off the Grid.
But it’s not just about the grub; visitors can enjoy an ever-changing array of free activities including yoga classes, lawn games, a Presidio photo booth, free kids bike-riding lessons from the Presidio YMCA, and nature-based arts and crafts for kids in the Presidio Adventure Zone tent.
Grab a blanket and head to your national park for Presidio Picnic. This great family event takes place on the Presidio’s beautiful Main Parade Ground, a seven-acre lawn with views of the park, the city, and the San Francisco Bay.

Happy Mother’s Day from SF Rec and Parks. From planning the perfect park birthday party to teaching us how to ride a bike, we celebrate all that our moms do for us. This Mother’s Day, May 12, spend time with mom in your favorite park.
The first 100 moms to enter the San Francisco Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park (1199 9th Avenue) will receive a complimentary succulent from us at SF Rec and Parks. Grab your gift and take mom for a walk in nature.
Main Gate Open Daily at 7:30am. Last Entry 6pm
The Garden closes one hour after last entry.
