Weekend Planner: July 17

Friday, July 17

Drake’s Brewing Company, San Leandro

5PM, 21+

We’re kicking off our biggest release of the summer season with a series of events across California. The Ten Day Coma will begin at Drake’s Barrel House on July 17 featuring Aroma Coma, Aroma Prieta and our newest heavyweight: Aroma Therapy Double IPA.

Beginning at 5pm our parking lot will become a spectacle of sights, sounds and smells. Featuring a variety of bold eats from local food trucks, fire-spewing art cars, vaporizing hop volcanoes, live music, and some damned good beer, too. We will have the freshest Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta available to take home in bottles, growlers, and 5 gallon kegs. To-go sales begin at noon; first come, first served.

Admission is FREE and the first 200 people to RSVP get an Aroma Coma poster*. Also up for grabs is a VIP package which includes an über-rare screen printed Aroma Coma AND Prieta poster set signed by brewmaster John Gillooly, a growler of Aroma Therapy DIPA to take home and a flight of all the beers before the event starts.

The AromaFest will also be a fundraiser for our local artist friends at BeeCharge who will be providing things that shoot giant flames in the air.  Queue up your senses and stay tuned for more events following the Ten Day Coma where Drake’s brewers will be aromatically assaulting taps across California.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

21 and over please, except children that stay with their parent/guardian AT ALL TIMES. Well behaved dogs on leashes that are kept close to their owner are allowed in the parking lot and on the patio only.

Can I get Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta before 5pm?

Yes, you can enjoy fresh Aroma Coma and Aroma Prieta on tap and purchase bottles/growlers/rhinos as early as 12pm. Aroma Therapy will only be on tap and with a limited number of growlers available after 5pm – get the VIP package to secure yours!

When can I claim my Aroma Coma poster with my free RSVP?

You must come to the event with proof of RSVP in order to claim an 11×17 poster. They will be available for pick up at the merch & bottle station.

The Oakland Wine Festival is a seated fine wine and food showcase that features celebrated winemakers and wines from Napa Valley, Sonoma County and some of your favorite international wine regions.

This is the first wine festival in Oakland that invites internationally recognized and highly acclaimed winemakers from the above and other regions to spend a day and night in Oakland’s beautiful treasure, Mills College.

The Oakland Wine Festival founder believes It is time to showcase our Chef’s of Oakland in a real and deliberate way. This once in a lifetime gathering of outstanding chefs who cook delicious dishes in Oakland restaurants will be the first assembly of this sort. Our gathered chefs will work collaboratively and independently to pair their food with the exquisite wines brought to the Oakland Wine Festival’s debut.

A significant portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to thoughtfully selected charities who contribute to the lives of Oakland and Bay Area residents.
