Jack London Square Tree Lighting

Jack London Square is set to ring in the holiday season with an annual tree lighting ceremony on the Oakland waterfront.
Share in an enchanting evening on the Oakland waterfront with holiday music performed by the talents of many Oakland youth.
Free to attend, enjoy a merry evening that includes Santa, of course, as well as live reindeer, the lighting of the 55-ft. Mount Shasta fir tree brightly lit with 5,000 sparkling lights, kids’ activities, tap dancing Christmas trees and more.

26th Annual Hayes Valley Holiday Block Party
Hayes and Laguna, San Francisco

Hayes Valley hosts the 26th Annual Holiday Block Party, the neighborhood’s biggest party of the year.
Stroll around Hayes Valley and local merchants and vendors, enjoy live music, a photo booth and many other fun activities being offered during this special event along Hayes, Gough, Octavia and Laguna Streets.
Bring your friends and loved ones to join in on the fun.
Live music (beginning around 6:30 at PROXY): V Trio. They perform on piano, vibraphone and violin, but the violinist also sings and percussion is added, giving more variety to the ensemble. Jazz and fusion emphasizing bossa nova, swing, bolero among others may be part of the evening.
Later, enjoy ZEROdB Global dancing to a silent beat of a live DJ and three channels of music, all on a wireless, LED lit-up headsets that you rent, while you enjoy Hayes Valley merchants along Hayes Street, Gough Street and the little alleys in the neighborhood. With a 1/4 mile range, these headsets will help you move to a beat as you visit and shop. A donation to artist-led Hayes Valley Art Works, corner of Laguna and Fell Streets, will be made from the headset rentals.

Presidio Stargazing Parties are perfect for families and people of all ages interested in seeing the universe through a telescope. The SFAA brings telescopes and amateur astronomers to guide you, unveiling some of the night sky’s most interesting astronomical beauties. See the moon, planets, nebulae and galaxies up close and learn some of the constellations at a star tour. Bad weather cancels. Check www.sfaa-astronomy.org.

All proceeds from The Elf Party go to charity! Together, we’ve raised over $125,000 for charities including Family Giving Tree, Women’s Community Clinic, SF Education Fund, San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, Destination Hope International Medical Missions, Down Right Awesome, BayKids; and this year we are once again excited to donate to equally great causes! This year, proceeds will go directly to families and organizations in the community in dire need: we’ll be featuring some of these along with their stories over the coming weeks leading up to the event.
The North Pole will feature several cash bars with plenty of libations for all; we’ll have a place to take pics with Santa Claus, and we’ll feature one massive dance party in the front room all night long. Come to party, but please just abide by the traditional party rules:
Costumes required! It’s suggested that: – Men come dressed as an elf. – Women come dressed as Santa, or your favorite Winter Holiday character

Freckled Floral Wreath Workshop

So very exctied for this one guys! I’ve always admired the floral fall and winter bring us, and I love designing with it even more. I would love for you to join us for our wreath making workshop, where you will design your own wreath to take home with you to enjoy for the holiday season. All materials will be provided. We will be using previously dried floral and some fresh which should dry nicely for you to be able to keep for quite awhile. Light bites will be served along with a little bubbly! Come spend some time relaxing, drinking mimosas, all while creating something beautiful together.
There will be signage posted outside of the building directing you where to go once inside. If you are having trouble navigating to the workshop, type this address…1410 62nd Street Emeryville, CA 94608, into your GPS as it is right next door to the entrance of the workshop. The holiday season is fast approaching and the Temescal/Telegraph businesses are organizing a Temescal Holiday Street Fair for Bay Area shoppers to enjoy a “one-stop” shop for all your holiday needs, from unique gifts by Temescal retailers, to one-of-a-kind creations by Oakland makers, as well as some holiday entertainment and cheer from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday, December 4, 2016.
Temescal’s local artisans will offer: figurative sculpture, paintings, display books, decorated calabashes, wire table top forms, watercolors, holiday ornaments, dolls, fabric bags, and more. Allow yourself a rendezvous within the 6 hours to buy something for you, your turtle dove and others, from prints and printed t-shirts, to pastels on paper, light sculptures, mixed media artworks, letterpress stationery, purses, paper decorations, clothing, and jewelry.
Complimenting these vendors, the Temescal Holiday Art Fair will feature lots of family-friendly activities including a holiday photo booth with appearances by Santa Claus to capture those holiday memories. While you shop and peruse the unique gifts, families are encouraged to bring the kids to enjoy a fun art project with FLAX art & design, holiday music and a games pavilion for all ages by It’s Your Move Games & Hobbies.

“Repeal Day” 1920s Prohibition Party

21st Amendment co-founders Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan are inviting beer lovers across the Bay Area to dust off their flapper dresses and pork pie hats and join them for their annual 1930s style Repeal Day Bash.
The party celebrates the day, 83 years ago, on December 5th, 1933, when the 21st Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, ending Prohibition.
Recognize a historical day that we hold near and dear: Repeal Day, which marks the end of Prohibition and the ratification of the 21st Amendment.
Commemorate this great day and join for another afternoon made for the history books. They will be celebrating indoors with 1930s-themed decorations, dress up, music, delicious food and signature 21A brews.
Outside in thebeer garden – in partnership with Cigar City Brewing – they’ll be hosting a Cigar Lounge and Cigar City Tap Takeover where they will have six Cigar City beers on tap including Jai Alai, Vanilla Maduro and the coveted Hunahpu 2016.
