Our community favorite spot, Java Beach Cafe will join us this year too, with hot chocolate and delicious baked goods for all!

There will be festive entertainment and a Christmas sing-along led by local artists, which is sure to get everyone in the mood for the holidays. This year’s San Francisco Rose of Tralee, Margaret Harkin, will also be there to greet all budding Roses.

Of course a Christmas party would not be complete without Santa Claus who will arrive with Mrs. Claus from the North Pole at 1.15pm sharp!  Children can meet Santa, give their Christmas request and have their picture taken.  Mrs. Claus will have a ‘sweet treat’ for each child that she meets!

Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris

The Eureka Theatre, San Francisco

Combined Artform presents The 15th year of

The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris adapted to stage by Joe Mantello Saturday, December 17th, 3 PM through Monday, December 26, 2016

San Francisco, CA—November 7, 2016— This year we celebrate the 15th anniversary of everyone’s favorite mall elf, Crumpet, in The Santaland Diaries by David Sedaris, adapted to the stage by Joe Mantello. The very talented Zac Schuman (Avenue Q) and A.J. Roy are back again sharing the iconic role over the course of this limited run. So come see the show that has become the cult classic of the “anti-holiday tradition” for San Francisco’s audiences, come escape the craziness of the holidays with Combined Artform at the Eureka Theatre.

Mission Mission said about Santaland Diaries:

“Sedaris is a hilarious writer. His sardonic dry wit helps us laugh at ourselves, while bringing out moments of heart and humanity to soften the sarcasm. This production at Eureka theater has been running for fourteen years, and you can tell why it’s a holiday staple. The Crumpet we saw was full of energy, and kept the show moving. We left wanting more, which is always a good sign. If you’ve seen the nutcracker, and are looking for something with a bit more of an edge, this show’s for you.” http://www.missionmission.org/2015/12/23/drama-talk-drinks-santaland-super-not-pc/

Talking Broadway – Richard Connema:

“Zac Schumann’s acting is not overly campy but he gives out just the right amount of emotion to handle the clever text of David Sedaris. The show needs a measured pacing to make the words come alive and Schumann skillfully does that within Lux Obscura’s direction, which is sharp and to the point. Abbie Dwelle has set the stage with Christmas flats and holiday lights that will get you in a holiday mood.”

For those not familiar with the Sedaris piece, this production will offer the best opportunity to view what New York Newsday called;

“A sardonic, merrily subversive tale – just the antidote to bright-eyed joy before too many shopping days have passed. Worth more than a photo album full of Santas!”

Called by some as “America’s premiere humorist”, Sedaris creates a brilliant evocation of Christmas as seen from the other side …through the eyes of a Macy’s elf. Our hero confronts the screaming children, bossy parents, flaky elves, and apathetic Santas with hilarious results!

In association with Eureka Theatre Company.
