Celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th birthday and honor the 1895 National Historic Landmark schooner C.A. Thayer with a full day of music, demonstrations, and fun along the San Francisco waterfront.
Festival of the Sea 2016 happens at Hyde Street Pier on Saturday, August 20, from 9:30 am to 5 pm.
There will be continuous music performances on four stages will include internationally renowned acts and local musicians through various genres especially songs of the sea and sea chanteys.
Family activities include: kids crafts, rope making and plank caulking, a chance to row and sail with the San Francisco Sea Scouts, and maritime story-telling.
A dead horse ceremony, bilge pumping, turning a capstan, a breeches buoy rescue, and a dory drill by the San Francisco Maritime National Park Association’s Age of Sail team will bring sailors’ traditions to life for festival-goers.
Don’t miss this chance to experience your maritime heritage, enjoy a day along San Francisco Bay, and “Find Your Park” this summer.
98th Annual Italian Festival
San Francisco Italian Athletic Club, San Francisco

The SF Italian Athletic Club once again welcomes you to North Beach for the annual Festa Coloniale Italiana to celebrate the rich Italian and Italian-American heritage that has existed in San Francisco for generations.
Along Stockton St., between Union and Filbert streets, there will be continuous live Italian music, a pizza toss by Tony’s Pizza, plus plenty of beer, wine, and Italian food for sale.
Vendors will be selling Italian-related products. Inside, the club’s main ballroom will be transformed into an Italian piazza complete with a fountain and live music.

Eats, Beats & Brews Block Party

Downtown Berkeley’s Eats, Beats & Brews block party is back with Salsa Sundays featuring live salsa music, along with a Drake’s Brewing outdoor beer garden every third Sunday from 12 noon to 6 pm from June through October.
Also, Games of Berkeley will be taking over part of the street for a Locally Grown Games Day where everyone can come meet game developers, try out new games and celebrate modern gaming. So whether you like music, game-playing or just chilling outside with a beer, this family-friendly block party is for you.

Free Dance Classes: For all those who don’t know how to salsa dance, Ruth Caspary of Latin Connection Dance will teach a couple of short basic salsa lessons before the bands go on, so that everyone can dance to the sizzling latin rhythms.
The outdoor block party is conveniently located across the street from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. Attendees are encouraged to take public transportation, walk or bike. There are also many nearby public garages and parking lots for those arriving by car.

Off the Grid hosts a full season of Picnic at the Presidio from 11 am to 4 pm every Sunday through the fall at the Main Parade Ground Lawn.
Get ready for yummy offerings available for purchase from San Francisco’s favorite eateries and food trucks, a lively atmosphere and picnics on the lawn with a view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
Though we don’t know the details for 2016 yet; in past years, they’ve offered Mimosa and Bloody Mary drink kits, an onsite DJ, classic picnic amenities like bocce ball, as well as game rentals and activities from Sports Basement. Blankets and Adirondack chairs are available to rent for a complete picnic experience.
