Michelle's Pre-Interview Check List

MAKE SURE YOU GO THROUGH THIS LIST BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW

Author: Michelle Mamerto

It’s a competitive market out there! Once you’ve landed a coveted job interview, what can you do to prepare? Aside from going over potential interview questions like the ones here, we’ve put together a pre-interview checklist:

Have you done your homework on the position?

Review the job description and try to remember your experience and training that matches the need of the employer.

Have you done your research on the company?

Please get online and research the company website! Look at their social media accounts and review articles written about the company. Do you know the name of your interviewer? Have you done your homework on that person? Think of questions you can ask your interviewer about the company or the position.

Are you appropriately dressed for the role?

If you are interviewing for a company with a professional dress code, you should dress on the conservative side. If you are interviewing for a company with a casual dress code, you can probably lose the jacket and tie.

Do you have a copy of your resume?

Please bring a few copies, in case you have more than one interviewer.

Do you know the location of your interview?

Long before you leave the house, you should know where you are going, the route you will be taking to get to your interview, and how long it will take for you to get there. If you are driving, do you know where the nearest parking spots are, and how long it will take you to walk from the parking area to your interview? If you are taking public transit, please factor in the time it will take for you to walk from your stop to the interview location. Plan for traffic and leave early. If you get to the location too early, take a walk or stay somewhere nearby. Make sure you arrive at your interview 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

One last thing…Before you enter the building, don’t forget to put your electronic devices on ” DO NOT DISTURB” mode!

Good luck and happy interviewing!
