Meet the Staff: Darcy Raven

In today’s Meet the Staff feature we meet Office Manager and Recruiting Coordinator Darcy. Darcy does a little of everything around here, and helps to keep our whole office motivated and focused!

Q: Who are you, and how long have you been at the Job Shop? A:  I am Darcy Raven and I started out at the Job Shop as a temp, signed up December 2016. Then I got to be part of the Job Shop as the recruiting coordinator around April 2017. Been here since.

Q: What do you do at the Job Shop? A: What don’t I do? I help out with the flow and process of the office and recruiters. I am there to help with anything the recruiters need as well as organize paper work, timesheets, invoices, payroll, social media and pretty much anything else needed except I don’t deal with clients or do interviews.

Q: What is your favorite part of the job? What is the most rewarding aspect of it? A: My favorite part of the job is that I get to do almost everything in the office and it allows me to multitask and organize my day. Also no day is the same so it keeps me active and excited to get to work and to continue working/helping the recruiters in any and every way possible.

Q: What do you think makes for an ideal candidate? A: A positive, hardworking and reliable personality makes an ideal candidate. Skill can always be taught. Personality can’t.

Q: If you could give one piece of advice to people looking to work with The Job Shop, what would it be? A: The one piece of advice to people is to take the Job shop interview seriously, come prepared, dressed professionally and arrive on time. And if you are late or cant make it then call! A phone call goes a long way.

Q: What do you do for fun? What are your hobbies and interests? A: For fun I watch a lot of movies and TV shows. I also work on my art. I decoupage all the time while I watch tv/movies! Also I foster cats and I love to hang out with them and teach them how to ring a bell for treats. @foster_meowster

Q: Do you have any interesting/funny anecdotes about your time at The Job Shop? A: At the moment no interesting/funny anecdotes come to mind. I do know though that anytime we do things as a group or just have time to talk or grab lunch it’s always a fun time and laughing is always involved.

Q: Outside of work, what are you passionate about? A: Outside of work I am passionate about my artwork, and helping both cats and dogs in need. I foster cats from Give Me Shelter SF and I volunteer at GGLRR (Golden Gate Labrador Retriever Rescue), which is turn makes me passionate about running both my cat foster Instagram page and GGLRR’s Instagram page.

Q: What is one thing about you that might surprise people? A: I was a very active competitive soccer player. Soccer was my life. Had to retire due to tearing my ACL twice but not the same ACL and not at the same time.

Q: Anything else you’d like people to know? A: I loved working as a temp for the Job Shop and I currently love working with and for the Job Shop in their office. Everyone is so supportive. And they are pet friendly, so I can bring in my foster cat if needed and or once in a while we will have a dog from GGLRR.

Have a question for Darcy, or anyone else on the staff? Leave it in the comments!
