event.

Our eighth annual Holiday Toy Drive!!
Once again, we were happy to deliver many large boxes of new toys
and other goodies to San Francisco charity Glide Memorial! Thanks
to everyone who contributed to our efforts in making the 2006 holiday
season a little brighter for those in need. The people at Glide
were most appreciative and grateful.
Holiday Toy and Food Drive!!
With charities reporting a lower number of volunteers and donations
in 2002, we felt it was especially important to give back to our
community this year. Thanks to those who contributed to our donation
box.
Rebuilding Together 2002!!
Our project this year was for Mrs. Pope, a California resident since
the Depression years, whose home is in San Francisco's Bernal Heights.
Over the past decade, her physical disabilities have left her unable
to walk without crutches, and she has difficulty doing daily activities
on her own, including two of her favorite past times - crocheting
and sewing. The improvements that we made on April 27 included making
her home safer and easier to get around. Her life is typically lonely
and she says it was a real treat to have some young, energetic people
around that weekend. We are continuing to make post-April 27th visits
to Mrs. Pope to keep her spirits uplifted! The Job Shop thanks everyone
involved for their support!
Our third annual Holiday Toy Drive!!
We were happy to deliver another big box of new toys and other goodies
to San Francisco charity Glide Memorial! Thanks to everyone who
contributed to our efforts in making the holidays a little brighter
for those in need. The people at Glide were most appreciative and
grateful.
American
Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund!! The profits from our purchase
of Flag Ribbon Pins were donated directly to help relief efforts
from the September 11th attacks. We distributed the pins to our
clients, candidates and other friends.
Our
2nd year at Special Links Women's Golf Tournament!! The
third annual tournament to benefit Special Olympics Marin was held
on Monday, October 15, 2001 and we came in third - not too shabby!
Liz, Michelle, Judi, Marla, Desiree and Eileen had a great time
pitching in for this charity event and making some new friends along
the way!
More work with SOMA Partnership
Graduates!! We conducted mock interviews in our office and
later gave feedback on the candidate's strengths and extended advice
that could make their job searches more successful.
A few weeks later, Kemp Bigelow, Associate here at The Job Shop,
along with 15 other business members from the community, volunteered
for SOMA Partnership's Shadow Day. Dressed in the program's signature
jackets and gloves, equipped with brooms, dustpans and trash cans,
they spent the morning sweeping and cleaning sidewalks in the area
alongside program members. This was all followed by a graduation
ceremony where 4 hard-working people matriculated through this extensive
program.
SOMA Partnership Graduates 2001!!
Recruiters from the Job Shop met with graduates from the Soma
Partnership Program (a tough program to complete!) to offer them
guidance in their upcoming job searches. We offered tips on creating
a resume that gets results, covered questions that may be asked
during an interview, made suggestions for proper business etiquette
and attire and tried to offer other useful advice to aid them as
they move forward to further successes. Congratulations Graduates!
Rebuilding Together 2001!! It
was a bigger project than we anticipated and we'd like to thank
everyone for their hard work and perseverance! All the painting,
cleaning, clearing, pruning and hauling we did means Mr. Crump can
actually enjoy his backyard in his retirement and feel safer in
his house. He is grateful to the volunteers for your good service
and The Job Shop thanks you for your support. See you next time!
Special
Links Women's Golf Tournament!! The
second annual tournament to benefit Special Olympics Marin was held
on Monday, October 16, 2000 at The StoneTree Golf Club. Liz, Michelle,
Judi, Marla and Anne all had a blast challenging the 18 hole championship
course for this very worthy charity!
SOMA
Partnership!! The Job Shop is proud to sponsor this not-for-profit
corporation which is dedicated to helping people get their lives
back on track. SOMA Partnership provides intensive employment training
to formerly homeless individuals while simultaneously improving
the South of Market community. These people must attend training
for six months and be on time every day! You may have noticed participants
sweeping neighborhood sidewalks, removing refuse, performing tree
and plant care and more. As San Francisco's SOMA district continues
to change and grow, The Job Shop is happy to support an organization
dedicated not only to promoting the area's cleanliness and safety,
but to helping people who are trying to change and grow as well.
AIDS
Walk 2000!!
We're grateful to all our friends who made the journey out to Golden
Gate Park on a drizzly Sunday morning to help raise funds for AIDS
research! It's never too late to make a contribution; just stop
in our office and we'd be happy to forward your donation to AIDS
Walk San Francisco. The Job Shop looks forward to the day when this
annual fundraiser is no longer necessary.
Thanks
to our Christmas in April 2000 volunteers!!
Helen was crying tears of joy as the
last volunteers left that evening. She couldn't
believe the major improvements that we were able to make happen
in just one day. The Job Shop would like to acknowledge everyone
who participated, donated their time, supplies and/or funds to help
repair and restore Helen's home. Thanks for your great work and
spirit!
Happy results from our Holiday Toy Drive for Glide Memorial Church
!!
Thanks to everyone who dropped off a donation this year! We gathered
up many boxes of toys and dolls which were then distributed to local
children in need by the good folks at Glide.
